Leather Bound Journals, New Year’s Resolutions and a Killer Room
I find trying to manage a company blog is about as easy for me as keeping a personal hardbacked journal.
At first, the idea of documenting your life is enticing and exciting. You search diligently to find just the right leather-bound book for your “important thoughts and musings”, you plot out how often you will jot down an entry, and you write furiously for a week… maybe two.
Then, a month later you see it collecting dust on the shelf and say, “meh… I’ll do it later”.
So, forgive me if I approach this new blog with apprehension. My goal is for Davy and I to actually use this Haven blog on a regular basis to share new designs, concepts, ideas, techniques, etc.. Do I, at this very moment, feel like I am setting a New Year’s resolution that will fall by the wayside… Yes I do.
That said, I’m giving it the ol’ college try. I resolve to shed a few pounds, go to the gym, read a few biographies, and keep a proper blog.
And with that, here is our first proper post. Tadahh!
I thought I would share a couple of photos from a job we did last summer that just about physically killed us. It is a youth room in Houston, Texas at Woodridge Baptist Church. Davy and I (with the help of Dale Fenton and Logan Standifird) each worked 110 hours in a mere six days to complete the build-out of this space on-site. The work put in was brutally long and caused ankles to swell like baseballs from overexertion. Sleep was a luxury we did not exactly have, and when we did, it was on a couch just outside this room. In the end though, it is one of our most impressive Environment Designs to date. Was it worth it? I think so.
